Dr Caitlin Sum is a GP with a special interest in breastfeeding medicine and infant/ parent health. She is a trainee lactation consultant and has also gained broad experience working in the area of perinatal health at Torrens House, a residential program for parents and babies under the age of 12 months run by Child and Family Health Services. She is also a mum to two young children, so she can empathise with parents who are struggling with issues such as:

• Breastfeeding pain, supply concerns, and all other manner of infant feeding issues
• The life-changing transition of becoming a parent
• Perinatal mental health concerns
• Sleep deprivation and infant sleep concerns
• Unsettled infant behaviour/ excessive crying

Dr Sum’s approach is non-judgemental, flexible, and tailored to the parent’s specific concerns. She is familiar with many methods of addressing sleep, settling or feeding issues that are recommended to parents, so she can work with you to find the best fit, although she tends towards a gentle approach that she feels best supports both infant and parental mental health.

Consults are longer than a standard GP appointment to allow ample time to listen, assess and make a plan to address all issues.
